A monitor that projects images directly into your eyes.

source: thefeature.comSounds like something out of a Sci-Fi movie right ? Especially the picture makes it look more so.

However, thefeature.com article talks about how work is on so that one day instead of relying on a screen to show you video images, the image can be projected directly onto the retina in your eyeballs using lasers. This, scientists hope, will change the way we see images. They will be much sharper and lifelike than ever before. Most importantly these devices will consume much less power (quote: The picture is crisper and brighter than any competing heads-up display and doesn't guzzle power like postage-stamp LCD or LED screens)

Work on making this equipment is already in progresss. Personally, i cant wait !

Iraq healing - Iraq Linux Users Group

I believe this is sign of a country healing. I've just been reading of
Iraq Linux User Group - a group of Iraqis getting together with a common interest - Linux (a freely avialable open source operating system). What i found particularly interesting, was the main post on their site - "Why English, Why not Arabic" which explains why they chose to present their site in english rather than Arabic (hey, the way i see it - i couldnt have been able to read it otherwise) ;)

Its nice to know that their new found freedom has started showing effect - welcome to the free world guys and yes - go Linux !!

UK Govt. moves closer to using OSS (Open source softwares)

BBC reports that UK Office of Govt. Commerce (OGC) has reported that use of open source softwares (OSS) such a linux could be a "viable" option. They could significantly save money for the UK Govt.

Moving one step ahead, here's the link to the report on OGC Site.
