450+ freeware utilties to do almost everything you need

Here's a neat website that lists more than 450 freewares to do almost everything you ever needed. Some examples are - Removing Viruses, Firewall, Writing CD/DVDs, playing a CD, browsing the internet, screen capturing, (de)compressing file(s), voice of IP (aka. Internet Telephony) and many more..

Taking a step back, its quite amazing to see that there's a freeware to do almost everything you need on your PC. I am now waiting to find a similiar list for non-PC platforms like Mac.

And if you are someone who uses UNIX/Linux or something similar at work and miss the command line utilities at home, then head over to the open source GNU Win32 project that has Windows ports (non techies, read that as windows equivalents) for a lot of the commands. Some popular examples are:
and so on. See the whole list here.

Setting up an IT Company in India

India is currently the hotspot for IT activity. Several well known names have set up shop in the country. well-known popular names include Google, Microsoft, CISCO and so on.

And its not only the large corporations who are doing this, several small companies from all over the world (especially US, EU and Australia to name a few) have been opening or tying up with Indian partners.

The Indian Govt. has made several changes to its procedure to improve the process of settinh up IT companies. In one of the first HOW-TO's on this topic, Satish Talim (Linkedin profile) is starting a series to describe the process. He should know. He has been helping several companies exactly that. I am sure he will welcome any additional questions and/or commercial enquiries. Here's the first article in the series.

Make the Move

This one is for my friends (and their friends/ family and theirs) who have often asked me curious questions about Linux (such as "Isnt that the latest product of the Apple?") and how it can make your life a bit easier by saving you money and giving you peace of mind.

The FOSS folks have (finally) put together a website that can help. And its called - Make the move.
The website stands with a aim of helping you move to using Free and Open Source Softwares (or FOSS .. see?) and even answer your concerns about using a FOSS Operating System - Linux.

I am sure many people are already using FOSS like Mozilla Firefox, VLC Player and Open Office (here's a bigger list) instead of Microsoft Internet Explorer (your browser), Windows Media Player/ Real Player (your media player) and Microsoft Office. And if you arent, you should ;)
